Couple of things:
1. ET wasn’t scary it was sad. Elliott had become best friends with an alien. That doesn’t happen every day. Suddenly he was part of something unusual and special and now, not only does he lose his friend, but life has been rendered once again mundane.
2. It wasn’t the intro to Thriller that scared me. Werewolves never bothered me. It was the zombies, with special emphasis on the one with black goo spilling out of his mouth and the one that crawls out from the manhole cover because that means there are zombies IN THE SEWER.
3. C.H.U.D. can die in a fire too, as far as I’m concerned.
